Tomato Hotdish

Tomato Hot DishIngredients

1 box shell noodles
1 pound hamburger
1 can tomato soup
1 can tomato sauce
1 can diced tomatoes

  1. Brown the hamburger in a medium skillet.
  2. Cook the noodles, about 10 minutes, then strain.
  3. Mix the noodles, hamburger, tomato soup, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 300°.
  5. Bake in a casserole dish or dutch oven for 20-30 minutes.

This is a quick and easy meal, but it doesn’t taste like it!  It makes for good leftovers too–I took some to work for lunch, and two people wanted to know what it was and how to make it.

Also, just to clear things up: I’m Minnesotan, and this is a HOTDISH.  See Wikipedia if you have any questions.

I’ve been making something like this for over 30 years. It started out being called June’s Famous Casserole as a joke. Then the kids came along and the name morphed into Mom’s Famous Casserole (just ask my daughter, Karin–this is on her menu occasionally). One thing I would suggest to make it more of a one-pot mean (well, actually this would make it a 2 pot meal), is to cook a vegetable (carrots or green beans are my favorites) and then add it before baking. That way another vegetable comes into the mix
Oh, oh! And cheese! I love to top it with cheese!!
